Dan McCarthy

 Dan McCarthy, goaltender and 5 year Blue Devil is a 2007 Architecture graduate now working for an architecture firm in the Orlando, Florida area. His best memories of the team are: Being a part of something from the start and watching as it progressed out of nothing more than a few guys playing hockey, to a team that brought something new to the University. More importantly, going from a doormat team in the league, to a team that the other coaches and players in the league were forced to respect week in and week out, not to mention finally beating those teams who walked all over us for years. The Dearborn native offers these words of advice to the current team: Always enjoy the time you spend on the ice, be it at practice or during a game. Stay positive and stay focused, but have fun, because hey, hockey is fun.

Doug Sparks

Doug Sparks, a 2007 Mechanical Engineering graduate is now working for Faurecia Interior Systems based in his hometown of Livonia, Michigan. Doug was a defenseman playing for our Blue Devil team for 4 years. His best memories of the team include: Going on the road trips & hanging out with the team. Doug offers these words of advice to our current team:  Enjoy it while you can, because once you’re done you will never play at that level again.

Josh Dawson

Josh Dawson played center for the Blue Devils for 3 years. The 2007 Mechanical Engineering graduate still lives in his home town, Macomb, MI while working at Yazaki North America MI. Josh’s best memories of the team are the: Road Trips and Christmas Parties. There is no better experience than spending weekends playing the game you love and hanging out with your closest buddies. The biggest thrill of my “career”at LTU was definitely beating Northwood in OT. No question about it, being involved in the goal and celebration was priceless.

His words of encouragement or advice to the current team are: Trust in each other and let loose. Enjoy every chance you get to play and be a part of this team. Life moves so fast that before you know it, you’re graduating and have real responsibilities. Take a second, appreciate the experience, and you will never have second thoughts. One more thing, tear up OU for us alumni.

Ching Van

Ching Van’s  best memories of the team are the road trips and camaraderie among teammates. As a Blue Devil, he played forward for 2 years following that with a 2 year stint as coach. Ching is a 2004 Architecture graduate now working for Design Plus in Grand Rapids, MI, his hometown. He has these words of advice for our current Blue Devil team: "I hope the young men take advantage of the opportunity of being a student athlete at the college level. Lawrence Tech sets the standard for on and off the ice."

Bill Gale

Bill Gale, a 2006 Mechanical Engineering graduate is now living in Garden City and working at Avon Automotive in Farmington Hills. As a 2 year captain Bill showed his versatility by playing positions at both forward and defense. His best memories of the team include: The road trips for sure! I loved my experience with the LTU hockey team. It was the classiest group of guys I have ever played with. I think the funniest experience was showing up to the rink for my first home game and the rink being closed. The best overall games to be a part of was the overtime win against Northwood in 2005-2006 and my last game against Lansing in 2004-2005.

Bill also coached the Blue Devils for 2 years and offers these words of advice to our current team: Winners always find a way to overcome. Don't let your circumstances ever control your life and/or your goals.
