Thanks for your interest in sending your photos to the LTU Blue Devils. The
rules and guidelines below will help you make your visit here run
smoothly.
Why have
The Golden Rule?
This site is for fan-taken,
unofficial photos only. We want the pictures YOU took...not someone else's. And
besides, there's a pretty good chance that if the picture was highjacked from
another site, it was probably copyrighted by that site. We will accept
copyrighted photos only if the person who sends them is the actual copyright
holder and sends them voluntarily. The following is a list of photos which
will NOT accepted:
- Hockey card photos (they are generally licensed
photos)
- Magazine and newspaper photos
- Photos or scans of official programs, ticket stubs, promotional materials or
merchandise for sale.
- Photos which carry a watermark for another web site.
- We will also not accept officially licensed photos or
hockey logos. If you would like to see collections of logos, we recommend http://hockeydb.com or http://logoserver.com.
- Candid (i.e. out of uniform) player photos. In some instances, these photos
could be construed as an invasion of the player's privacy. Exceptions may be
made for instances in which the player is representing the team such as
autograph signings, draft photos, awards banquets, etc.
- Any photo which has been altered in any malicious way in order to embarrass
or demean. (i.e. drawing in devils horns on a referee, etc.)
Also, if
you are looking to send a picture purely to hotlink to it, please don't. There
are other free services out there which are designed specifically for that
purpose. We recommend http://photobucket.com
All photos found to be copyright
images used without permission will be removed from the collection immediately
and the responsible party could be banned from sending any further images or have their IP address
banned. Just remember The Golden Rule and you'll have no troubles at
all.
Before you send
1) Be sure your photo is one of these file types
.jpg,.jpeg,.png,.gif., psd. These are the only file types being accepted. We recommend
that all photos be converted to the .jpg or .jpeg formats in order to reduce
file sizes. This will help us store more photos on our server and will reduce
our bandwidth usage.
If you need a free program to convert your files,
you can download several at http://download.com. We recommend a decent, free program
called Irfanview which can be found on download.com or at http://irfanview.com. This
program can also be used to resize your photos.
2) Make sure the size of
the file is less than 250k. We set this limit in order to maximize the number of
photos we can store on our server. Simple tip: most photos will come in under
that file size if they are coverted to JPEG's (.jpg).
Taking these two
steps before you try to send should solve most of the problems.
